Gold Year of Cheer

This card has so much gold on it I just LOVE it!!!  I used lots of fun, sparkling items from the Year Of Cheer Suite in the Holiday Catalog.  The Year of Cheer DSP is so gorgeous!  I think this plaid gold pattern is my favorite!  I also used the foil snowflakes-gold side out of course!  For even more gold I used some gold thread and sequin trim.  Love it all!!!  The greeting is from the Hostess only stamp set that you can only get with a $300 workshop or order.  I stamped it in Black Archival and in VersaMark so that I could gold emboss the letters!  So pretty!!!
We are only 2 days from my hugs Tips and Techniques Summit!  The final, final, final preps start today!  I'm headed to the venue to begin prepping-and Shannon West arrives tomorrow!  I can't wait!  I'll have lots and lots and lots to share about the Summit next week and make sure you 'like' me on Facebook for updates and some live videos throughout the weekend!!

Hug In a Mug-We're All Mad Here

I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned my love of Disney here....no?  Well I have a passion for all things Disney and this card happened by accident but I couldn't be happier with it!!!  The original plan was to make a stack of cups then use one of the cute greetings from the Hug In A Mug set, but once they were all stacked all I kept thinking about was the Mad Hatter and how adorable these cups would be at his tea party.  So instead of using a greeting from the set I pulled out my Labeler Alphabet and made my own from a line from the movie.  I cut them out and adhered them a little off because well, the Mad Hatter is a little off so it seemed fitting.
The mugs were all stamped in Black Archival and water colored with our ink pads and an aqua painter.  Once the mugs were all dry I added some stamped details to all of them with the black ink.  Super cute!  I love this card!  If you have a Disney fan in your life, or maybe just an Alice fan they'll love this card too!

Merry Cafe Gift Card Holder

Gift cards have become a really popular gift.  I know I give gift cards all the time, especially for places like Starbucks.  It's a quick fun gift that I think everyone appreciates.  The Merry Cafe set in the Holiday catalog is so incredible and is a multi-holiday set.  There's everything from fall to Halloween to Christmas to Valentine's Day and everything in between.  Plus it coordinates with our Coffee Cafe set and Coffee Cups Framelits in the Annual Catalog.  What's not to love!!!
I made a quick Halloween gift card holder today, but you could easily adapt this to any holiday! I used the Merry Little Christmas DSP (I love the black and white patterns!) and the envelope punch board for my gift card envelope.  I white heat embossed the cup and lid from the Merry Cafe set and used the Coffee Cups framelits to cut it all out.  A quick wrap for the mug and envelope and it was done!  So cute!!!  Again, customize this quick gift for any holiday or occasion!

Happy New Year

I realize it's not not New Years yet.  But we are nearing the end of of September so December 31st will be here in the blink of an eye!  I had some embossing powders on my desk and made this super simple quick New Years card.  I stamped the greeting in gold and the rest in silver.  They're matted on gold and silver foil to keep with the metallic theme of it all.  This set is the Season of Whimsy set in the Holiday catalog.  It's only available as a host item so contact me for more info on how you can earn this set free!!!

Hot Cocoa Treat Bag

It's fall!  That means warm drinks, cozy fires and yummy treats!  This is the perfect gift to make a stack of and have on hand to hand out to friends, teachers, co-workers, anyone!!!  Inside my little treat bag is a packet of hot cocoa and a fun spoon.  If I had candy canes on hand I think I would substitute the spoon for a candy cane.  I used the Merry Little Christmas DSP in the Holiday Catalog and made a treat bag using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.  I love all the patterns and the simple colors of Old Olive, Basic Black and Whisper White make it fun and easy to use!  I added another piece of the DSP on the front and layered up some ribbon, cardstock and my greeting.
The greeting is a framelit from the Mini Treat Bag, I cut two of them and adhered them together to make it more sturdy.  Then I mixed up some gold glitter embossing powder (two parts gold embossing powder to one part gold glitter).  I covered the entire surface with versamark and added the gold glitter embossing powder.  I let it cool and did it again for a thicker layer of embossing powder.  This gives the fun look that it's a metal embellishment and not just cardstock.  Make a bunch of these to have on hand this fall!

Bike Ride

The Bike Ride set in the Annual Catalog is one of the cutest and versatile sets in there.  I love how simple you can build a bike and there's so many 'extras' you can add on! But probably my favorite part about this set is all the stamp coordination.  There's little stamps to stamp inside the handle bars, the petals, the seat.  The bandana on the dog is a stamp.  If you're not a fan of coloring this set is perfect-the stamps do it all for you!  Plus the coordinating framelits make for the cutest cards ever!

Just Add Text

My awesome downline Michelle just celebrated her 10th year as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator!  I made her this card to share my excitement of this accomplishment with her!  There's a lot going on on this card!  But it all works together.  I stamped a bunch of flowers and leaves from the Oh So Eclectic set and cut them out with the coordinating framelits.  I embossed the greeting from the Just Add Text set in white on some Chocolate Chip cardstock.
All of that is adhered to a piece of watercolor cardstock that I added some embossing paste to with the diamond stencil.  After the paste was dry I watercolored over it and die cut it with one of labels framelits from the Lots Of Labels set.  Finally to finish it, I stamped some tone on tone flowers on the base of the card and added some gold thread.
This card is not your standard size card, I think it ended up being 3.5"x7.  So I pulled out my envelope punch board and made my own envelope.  I used some plan kraft wrapping paper that I got from Target.  It worked like a dream.  I think my new plan for envelopes-wrapping paper!!  I always have a hard time using my DSP for envelopes because you always need such a large piece for envelopes, maybe I just like to hang onto my paper too much LOL.  But I love how great the wrapping paper worked!

Graceful Birthday

I love coloring images like this rose from the Graceful Garden stamp set.  I think it's so pretty and lots of fun to color.  Often what I'll do, to hopefully save time down the road, is stamp a bunch of flowers (or whatever image I'm coloring) and take them in the car with me when I go pick up my kids from school.  I bring along a few items to color with and I color on the go.  Then I have a nice stack of colored images so when I need a card in a hurry I can grab one and attach it to a card and have a beautiful card in no time!
The background is a simple watercolor wash with some Tranquil Tide and Soft Sky ink.  I heat embossed a greeting and punched some leaves out of vellum.  Basically this card was done!  So fun and quick with my pre-colored pieces ready to go!

Merry Patterns Again!

I couldn't end the week without sharing another cute card with the hostess only set Merry Patterns!  I love this adorable reindeer!  He just makes me happy!  The reindeer is two images the outline image and the inside image and OMG!  If you put that reindeer in a sweater you know I'm gonna go crazy for it!
I love how perfectly everything lines up and all the intricut details on it.  I added in some DSP from the Coffee Break pack.  Proving you don't have to use just Christmas stuff on a Christmas card.  So cute!!!  Make sure to check out yesterday's post for all the details on the Merry Patterns promotion.

You Dazzle Me

I have these adorable sunglasses sitting on my desk for a few weeks.  They're stamped with the sunglasses from the Pocketful Of Sunshine stamp set.  I stamped them and just wasn't sure what I was going to do with them.  I finally decided to pull a card together and I think it's pretty cute! The background is ink blended with some sponge daubers, Crumb Cake and Soft Sky ink.
I fussy cut the sunglasses, they do have coordinating dies in the Pocket set.  But I didn't want the border around it so I fussy cut them.  Before I stuck them on the card I added some of our Fine Tip Glue on the lenses to give them a glossy shinny look.  After they were completely dry I added them to the card.

My Birthday Cards

Before we get to today's cards I have a few updates.  Summit prep is in full swing and my craft room is starting to fill with boxes of goodies for the Summit.  We're less than 3 weeks away!  It will be here before I know it!!  I'm working daily (and making my family work) to get everything done for it!  While I'm hoping to emerge as the amazing organized stamper I think I am I think and blog everyday I feel that I should prepare you for the possibility that it might not happen and over the next 3 weeks or so my blogging may be very sporadic.  Just a heads up :)  But planning is going well and I'm so excited about everything being delivered and arriving, it's very exciting!  But let's get to some cards today!  And boy do I have a stack of cards to share today!  Last week was my birthday and I was showered with lots of hand stamped birthday cards! They're all fun and inspiring.  Check them out!

This card is from my amazing Disney friend Anne.

This card is from my also amazing BFF Kim.

This card is from the also amazing Nikki.

This card is from my good friend Karin.   The day I got this card, this was the only mail we got that day.  It's always extra special when you get one piece of mail and it's good mail!

This card is from my sister Joyce.

This card is from my mom.

This card is from Logan.  Logan is a big fan of Paper Pumpkin and I often let him do them with me, so he's got a nice stash of Paper Pumpkin cards.

Finally this card is from Megan.  Megan also has a stash of cards that she's accumulated from attending classes of mine over the years.

Day 5: Week of Great Big Greetings

We've reached the final day of my week of Great Big Greetings.  This final card was definately the card that took the most time and gave me the most problems.  There's lots that I love about this card, there's a few things I don't like.  So let's start with the technique.  I took a piece of DSP from the Naturally Eclectic pack, then I clear embossing the greeting on it, then I sponged some Night of Navy ink over all it.  Where the greeting was embossed the pattern shows through.  Where it wasn't embossed it picked up the ink.
I love the paper, but for this technique I think I choose a busy pattern that in the end didn't work great.  The results are still cute and fun, but looking back I'd choose a different piece of DSP.  The biggest problem I had was where there was Night of Navy patterns on the DSP the image got lost.  I ended up going around the embossed areas with a white gel pen to help the image stand out.  Especially where there was the Night of Navy pattern underneath.  You can see this most on the right side of Y and the left side of the O. However, it wasn't so much of an inconvenience that I was annoyed by it.  It was an easy fix.  That being said.  This technique is so much fun to do.  Especially with big, bold images like this one.

Day 4: Week of Great Big Greetings

We are on day 4 of my week long salute to the Great Big Greetings set.  What do you think so far? I love this sweet simple card!  It's one of my favorites.  This card would be easy to customize in ANY color!  I used Berry Burst and Powder Pink for mine but you could make this in shades of blues, greens, yellows, oranges, reds there's no end!  It's super sweet!
For the bottom heart in Berry Burst I wanted it to stand out a little more so I covered the heart in our Fine Tip Glue and then sprinkled a little Dazzling Details Glitter over it.  Then let it dry completely.  I love the sparkle and shine it gives!  Tomorrows my last day of the Great Big Greetings week long celebration!

Day 3: Week of Great Big Greetings

The Great Big Greetings set is perfect for masculine cards.  but I thought that I would turn this 'You're awesome' sentiment into card more suitable for a girl.  I started by clear embossing the greeting on some Crumb Cake cardstock.  Then I cut it out with the Stitched Shapes framelits.  I pulled out my Foil Frenzy DSP because it's sooooo pretty!
After attaching the greeting to the DSP I still felt like it needed something so I stamped and fussy cut some flowers from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous set and punched some leaves with our new Leaf Punch in the Holiday Catalog-(Seriously this is one of my favorite punches!). To finish it, I added a bow with some White Sheer Ribbon.  So pretty!

Day 2: Week of Great Big Greetings

It's day 2 of my week of Great Big Greetings.  This card I love.  I love the colors, I love the embssing, I love the sequins. I just love it all! I stared with some watercolor paper and got it wet. Then I dropped in some colors, I used Peekaboo Peach, Lemon Lime Twist, and Berry Burst.  I love this color combo!  After it was dry I heat embossing the greeting with some white powder.  I finished it off with some sequins from the Iridescent pack.

Week Of Great Big Greetings

A few weeks ago I celebrated post number 2350, along with that I had a giveaway on my Facebook page.  People commented with the set they wanted me to do a weeks worth of blog posts about. Great Big Greetings won, so here we are.  I have 5 fun cards all made with the Great Big Greetings set.  A few things about this set, it was designed by Sean Douglass.  Sean is Sara's husband---Sara being Stampin' Up! CEO.  I didn't know Sean was the designer until I saw something about it on Sara's Facebook page. It's a really fun set.  I'm so glad I have it!
Of all the cards, this is my favorite.  I used the 'yay' from the set.  Instead of making the 'yay' image the focal point I used it to create a fun background.  I cut out some stars from the Mini Treat Bag Framelits and white heat embossed a greeting.  So fun! I have more cards to share from this fun set!  Keep checking back all week!
