Tutorial Tuesday-Acetate Watercoloring

This is such a pretty technique! I just love it. I have been making alot of cards with it lately. To do this technique you'll need a line image stamp set, one that is good for watercoloring. I'm using my new spanish set Flores suaves. You will also need Staz-on ink, markers, a sheet of acetate and white cardstock. And of course coordinating cardstock and accessories. I'm using Regal Rose, Always Artichoke and Rose Red cardstock and Rose Red ribbon. Lets get started!

Stamp the image with staz-on twice, once on the acetate and on the white.

Flip the acetate image over and color the back of the image, with your markers. I used Regal Rose to color the flower then used Rose Red to highlight some areas. When you spray it with water the color will run together and look watercolored.

Spray the acetate sheet lightly with water. You want it to be just wet enough to moisten the ink on the acetate. This may take some practice to find the right amount of water, since it will be different with different images. If it's too wet the technique won't work, but the good news is if you didn't get enough water on it you should be able to spray again and try agian.

It's helpful (though not shown in the picture) to spray into the air and 'catch' some of the water as it's floating in the air.

Press your moistened acetate sheet onto the white, lining up the images. Give it a good rub to make sure you get the color transfered from the acetate image to the white chardstock. You should be left with a watercolored image.

Here's the finished card with accessories and all.

The great thing about this technique is that you can use the acetate sheets over and over again. I keep mine in the box with the stamp set, so that when I want to do this again I just get the stamp set out and it's in with the stamp waiting. Super cute, super easy and super fun!!!

Thanks for looking, see you tomorrow!
